Spinalonga
Spinalonga (Greek: Σπιναλόγκα) is an island located in the Gulf of Elounda in north-eastern Crete, in Lasithi, next to the town of Plaka. The island is further assigned to the area of Kalydon. It is near the Spinalonga peninsula ("large Spinalonga") – which often causes confusion as the same name is used for both.

Settled as early as the Neolithic period, the name Knossos survives from ancient Greek references to the major city of Crete. The palace was abandoned at some unknown time at the end of the Late Bronze Age, c. 1380–1100 BC;[5] the reason is unknown, but one of the many disasters that befell the palace is generally put forward.
In the First Palace Period (around 2000 BC), the urban area reached a size of as many as 18,000 people.[6]

The Lasithi Plateau (Greek: Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου, Oropedio Lasithiou), sometimes spelt Lassithi Plateau, is a high endorheic plateau, located in the Lasithi regional unit in eastern Crete, Greece.
